I steal my insight from Donald Miller. And his writing style. Part of the time.
I've been getting a lot of compliments on my blog recently, I hardly find myself deserving. All my posts are are some things I think about, seasoned with a little of what I read from Donald Miller and roasted in the hot air of my failed humor. And then there's my fail-poems. Please don't read them~
I think, no, I KNOW that everyone is insightful. Putting these ideas into words seems to be the hard part. All of our thoughts are swarming and bustling in swirly clouds above our heads. It's difficult to reach in and grab something tangible and understandable.
This is no excuse not to try. Kind of like what my friend Michael was saying in his blog, what you write gets better and deeper and more interesting as time goes on, as you get precious practice. This is about the time when I'm supposed to cite an SAT essay-worthy example that will convince you that hard work and determination is more important than talent.
...Any second now...
Michael Jordan! Martin Luther King Jr.! The Great Gatsby!
Anyway, I just want to say that blogging is... healthy. The human mind needs to express itself, and many times, even when we're talking to close friends, words fail us. To think that so many people go about life without a creative output like a blog; it's disheartening. A part of each of their brains is caged up, without exercise, and it slowly atrophies and fades into the background.
Also, on my breaks from homework, I like to read other people's blogs. This doesn't work very well when there are 4 people I know that blog regularly. It's criminal.
And that's why I think YOU should start blogging or blog more. Consider this a call to arms. Since some of you like what I do, I hope my posts show you that its possible for writing to be interesting and fun. High school has done much to ruin the joy of creative writing with a deadline and a grade.
So whatever you write about: sports, friends, art, love, poetry, or anything else in life worth mentioning, I want to read it. I want it online, I want it public, and I want it soon. Besides making me happy, it'll also be a worthwhile experience. Hey, if a plagiarist like me can get 10 followers(yes! one up from last post!), imagine what you could do. Think about it.
